Subject: Resources before we head out for the weekend!

Hi All,

Happy Friday! Before we head out for the weekend we wanted to share some resources for your work.

1.       See below for Families USA’s August Recess Tool Kit including our updated state events list, questions to ask at town halls, a letter to the editor tool, social media graphics, and more.

2.      New CBPP blog: ACA Marketplaces Poised to Grow Stronger — If They’re Not Sabotaged

3.       Two new Families USA blogs

a.       What's Next for Health Care in Congress: Medicaid, CHIP, and Bipartisan Reform (Families USA blog)

b.      Trump's Threats to Stop Cost-Sharing Reduction Payments Will Hurt Families (Families USA blog)

August recess is a key time to 1) hold members accountable for their votes on repeal and 2) urge members to move on from efforts to repeal the ACA and cut Medicaid and instead work together on bipartisan solutions to improve health care. We will talk on Tuesday about strategies for engaging in these efforts on our Big Tent call at 4:30.

Have a great weekend!

Claire

Dear Colleagues,

August Recess is here! Now that we have achieved a tremendous victory, defeating Congress’s most significant attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act and cut Medicaid funding, we have two important next steps:

  • Hold members of Congress accountable for how they voted on efforts to rip health care away from millions of Americans

  • Urge Congress to move on from repeal and work in a bipartisan manner to improve health care

Our August Recess Toolkit has tools to help you. In addition to social media graphics, these include:

Congress is on recess now until September 5.

Share the Families USA August Recess Toolkit with your networks and make the most of this time to let Congress know that health care matters.

Thank you for your work,
