All-

Because of your incredible advocacy, the vote on the Senate's bill has been delayed.  But this is just a delay, and we know the Senate is working to try to find the votes.  We need to increase our advocacy over the 4th of July recess next week and make clear to our Senators that they must oppose any bill that cuts or caps Medicaid.  And that this bill cannot be fixed.

Recess advocacy resources:  We have put together a Recess Action toolkit, attached and available online here.  (Special thanks to Bethany Lilly for working with me on this!)  We need everyone to take every single opportunity to advocate to #SaveMedicaid.  Plan or go to rallies and town halls; meet with and call your Senator; turn every 4th of July event into an advocacy opportunity; and advocate on social media.  Other organizations have put together great toolkits and alerts too, including AUCD's toolkit and NCIL's alert.

Updated CBO:  The Senate bill included even deeper cuts to the traditional Medicaid program by having an even smaller growth rate in the caps in out years.  The original CBO only had a 10 year forecast for cuts to Medicaid.  Late today, the CBO issued a forecast predicting that Medicaid would be cut by more than 1/3 by 2036.  Here is a link to the new CBO report, and here is a blog from CBPP.  Use these in your advocacy over the break!

Updated Key Senator list:  Below is the most recent list of key Senators.  If you are in one of these states, we need you to advocate hard.  If you know anyone in any of these states, reach out and get them engaged!

TIER 1: Portman (OH), Capito (WV), Moran (MO), Paul (KY), Murkowski (AK), Collins (ME), Heller (NV), Johnson (WI), Lee (UT)
TIER 2: Flake (AZ), McCain (AZ), Cassidy (LA), Cruz (TX), Gardner (CO), and Daines (MT)

Thank you for all that you are doing.  We are making a difference.  Keep up the fight, and let's make this the most important recess ever!
