Dear Colleagues

It is with mixed feelings that we announce the departure of Cindy Smith from NACDD effective August 4, 2017.  It is always difficult to lose a dedicated, hardworking staff member.  I said mixed feelings because while I am very sad to lose Cindy, our consolation is that Cindy is remaining in our in our network as she joins Aaron Carruthers at the California DD Council as their new Deputy Director for Public Policy. I am very happy for Cindy who deems this to be an excellent opportunity for growth in her career and her personal life as she will explore living on the West Coast and working at the state level versus the federal level. That said, we know she will remain integrally involved in the work of NACDD as a whole.

Cindy has contributed greatly to the success to NACDD.  She has led a strong effort to “up our game” on public policy and has lent a sense of high credibility to our work on the Hill. Most recently Cindy has put enormous effort into helping us on two battlefront – to keep our funding and place within the DD Act, and the preserve and protect Medicaid. We acknowledge her efforts and thank her for the unconditional commitment and dedication during her time here at NACDD.  On behalf of everyone at NACDD, I would like to wish Cindy the best of success in future challenges and endeavors.  Cindy will be at our conference in Salt Lake City. I hope that you will be able to wish her well when you see here there and join me in thanking her for her work during our assembly meeting.

We will be posting the job announcement early next week on our website, social media, and on different job boards.  The job description is also attached. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact Robin Troutman.

Thank you

Donna
