Hello,

Calls are still needed to every office, and every office can be reached by calling 1-866-426-2631. There is still no vote scheduled as of now, which means they are still trying to secure them.

Below is the most updated list I have regarding the positions of various members. Even if a member is listed as a current no or yes, as potential changes are made to the American Health Care Act (ACHA), we will have to continue to go back and confirm or re-confirm their position. The chart below is for your internal use to target efforts, especially those states with large delegations.

There is a potential amendment being floated by Rep. Upton and Rep. Long that would increase the high-risk pools by 8 billion dollars. NACDD will continue to strongly oppose the ACHA and any amendments as long as the pay for is the cuts and caps to the Medicaid program. A few specific talking points against that this particular amendment include:

1. The American Health Care Act (ACHA) with this amendment continues to drops the guarantee of coverage for people with pre-existing conditions (including people with disabilities). Adding $8 billion to high risk pools does not change this provision.

2. The ACHA still decimates Medicaid program by cuts of more than $800 billion. Half of the babies born in America are reimbursed through Medicaid.

3. Experts on both sides of the aisle have clearly warned that high-risk pools only lead to higher costs, fewer benefits and waiting lists rationing care for those with pre-existing conditions

4. The AHCA will still harm millions of people in America -- especially people with disabilities and seniors -- and breaks President’s Trump’s promise to cover everybody and protect people with pre-existing conditions.

Subject: Update: Keep Calling! TIME SENSITIVE: Take Action to Help Save Medicaid Now!

Hello,

An update as of this morning from some trusted colleagues. I am hearing that the House is still very close in securing the votes, and some are pushing for a vote now, although it has not yet been scheduled. The longer we keep a vote off the floor, the better for us.

What I have been told is that calls are making the biggest difference in offices, so please continue to use the alert below, and encourage people to call, email, tweet Congress, especially moderate Republicans, until we know a vote has failed or is pulled from the floor again. The alert is linked from NACDD's webpage and Facebook page. If you are forwarding the alert below, please create a new email and delete my introductory email. Thank you.

As they try to gain votes, the proposal could change, but regardless of what it contains, our top line message continues to be: People with disabilities and pre-existing conditions must have comprehensive, quality, affordable, non-discriminatory healthcare, such as the ACA. It is unacceptable to repeal and replace the ACA without such a plan, and to pay for it with over 800 billion in cuts and caps to the Medicaid program that supports people with disabilities to get an education, be employed, and live in their communities.

Thank you for all you are going!

Cindy

Hello,

Please use the alert below, and fill inboxes with emails and offices with calls today and tomorrow morning. Keep calling if you get busy signals. We are hearing that this is close, but still planned for a vote tomorrow in the House. Vote tallies I am hearing are about 1-3 votes either way, assuming everyone votes and all Ds are no's as expected. Let's get this pulled off the floor again!

Regards,

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

The fight is not over and we need your help. Members of Congress are still considering repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) with massive cuts to the Medicaid program. As Congress returns to Washington, D.C. this week, tell them not to repeal the ACA and to protect the Medicaid program.

Send a letter to your Member of Congress TODAY to tell them not to cut Medicaid.

The most effective way to get your message across is to share your story about the importance of the ACA and why Medicaid matters to you. Telling your story will help personalize the issue and is an effective way to protect Medicaid.

Watch this video to see why it's so important to share your story with your Member of Congress:

Share Your Story

While no two stories are the same, there are a million other stories out there like the ones included in this video, and we want Congress to hear them loud and clear. A lot of people with disabilities would lose out if Medicaid isn't there for them, whether it's short-term or long-term care that they need. We need you to speak out and make sure Congress hears this message.

Take action now. Share this video. Share your story. Send a letter to your Member of Congress TODAY to tell them why you oppose cuts to Medicaid.

Although Congress has not yet voted to repeal the ACA, negotiations continue to find a path forward for repeal of the ACA. Congress wants to cut $880 billion from Medicaid to pay for its scheme to repeal the ACA. We need everyone to continue to be incredibly vocal with all members of Congress about the importance of comprehensive, quality, affordable, non-discriminatory and accessible healthcare.

We need you to make phone calls, send letters and tell your story. Please make sure your voice is heard on Capitol Hill, and also with your governors and state legislators, because this is an issue that is about all our lifelines.

Send a letter to your Member of Congress today to let them know why the ACA and Medicaid provide essential health care and other critical supports to people with disabilities and their families.

The fight isn't over and we need you by our side to make sure Congress doesn't make any cuts to Medicaid.

Thank you,

Donna Meltzer
