Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities to Meet August 29, 1:00-2:00 PM ET
The next meeting of the Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities (the Committee) will be open to the public and take place by webinar on
August 29, 1:00-2:00 PM ET. On August 29, the Committee will meet to confirm consensus on the Final Report. Members of the public wishing to participate in the webinar must register in advance of the meeting, by August 19, 2016.

White House Celebrates the ADA Anniversary through Social Media
In honor of the ADA anniversary, some of the White House staffers have been celebrating the ways the ADA has made this country more accessible to everyone. First, West Wing Receptionist Leah Katz-Hernandez
narrated a video tour of the West Wing in American Sign Language, visiting the West Wing Lobby, the West Colonnade, the Rose Garden, the White House Press Briefing Room, the Cabinet Room, the Oval Office, and more. Then, the staff took over the Instagram feed
with profiles of White House employees with disabilities.

DOL ADA Event — Screening of Mind/Game: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw — August 10, 2:00-3:30 PM ET
In observance of the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will be holding a screening of the documentary film “Mind/Game: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique
Holdsclaw” on, August 10, 2:00-3:30 PM ET, at the DOL’s Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Avenue NW, in Washington, DC. The journey of “the female Michael Jordan” from troubled family life to the WNBA and Olympics reveals a long-hidden battle with
mental illness and near-suicide. This powerful account of a remarkable African-American LGBT woman follows Holdsclaw’s obstacles, successes, and setbacks, and provides an instructive and inspiring portrait of one person’s struggle for mental health recovery.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with Chamique Holdsclaw and academy-award nominated filmmaker, Rick Goldsmith.

Department of Labor Releases Guidance Documents on Section 511 of WIOA
The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) has released a number of items regarding implementation of Section 511 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) that limits the
ability of employers to pay a subminimum wage to workers with disabilities under Section14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The guidance documents include Field Assistance Bulletin 2016-2, Fact Sheet 39H, and certain Key News items.

EFSLMP Presents Webinar on School to Work Transition — August 10, 3:00-4:30 PM ET
The Employment First State Leadership Mentoring Program (EFSLMP) Community of Practice will hold a webinar on August 10, 3:00-4:30 PM ET featuring Debra Luecking, President, LueMar Consulting Group
and Corissa Neufeldt, Oregon DHS EFSTP Project Representative, State of Oregon. Using Oregon’s seamless transition model, students with significant disabilities achieve competitive integrated employment of choice prior to high school exit. This model illustrates
how Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) mandates for student transition can be implemented.

LEAD Center Archives Webinar on WIOA Final Rule
On June 30, 2016, the Departments of Labor (DOL) and Education (ED) issued a Joint Final Rule to implement the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The LEAD Center presented a webinar,
"Implementing the WIOA Final Rule (Title I) from a Disability Perspective: What Workforce Professionals and Partners Need to Know," about the provisions in Title I of the Final Rule that create opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities. The webinar
presented resources available to support implementation, and information about WIOA implementation from a disability perspective from leadership in DOL’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA) and Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), and from
the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) and the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP).

Ticket to Work Program Online Virtual Job Fair — August 24, 11:00 AM-5:00 PM ET
The Ticket to Work program will host its next online Virtual Job Fair on August 24, 11:00 AM-5:00 PM ET. This is a national event sponsored by the Social Security Administration. The event will connect
job seekers to companies that work with the government. These companies have job openings for persons with many different skill and experience levels. They are particularly interested in hiring qualified people with disabilities. Registrants should be Ticket
to Work participants, using their Tickets to get services from an approved Employment Network (EN) or state Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agency, and should be ready to work.

Introducing the BuyAccessible Wizard Tool to Facilitate Compliance with Section 508
The BuyAccessible Wizard is a tool for federal agencies planning a technology purchase. This "wizard" helps federal officials identify Section 508-compliant products in the marketplace and offers
guidance on developing and producing accessible electronic and information technology (EIT). It can be used to determine whether Section 508 applies to a particular product or service, what specific Section 508 standards apply in particular cases, and how
to document specific EIT accessibility requirements.
