National Disability Institute Launches DISABLE POVERTY Campaign

Dear Cindy,

Today, on the 26th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), National Disability Institute (NDI) is excited to announce the launch of DISABLE POVERTY.

DISABLE POVERTY is a grassroots campaign to increase awareness about the nearly one in three Americans with disabilities that live in poverty and remain outside the economic mainstream.

Within the next 10 years, NDI is committed to:

§  DECREASE the number of working-age adults with disabilities living in poverty by 50 percent, and

§  INCREASE the use of mainstream banking products and services among Americans with disabilities by 50 percent.

But we can’t do it alone. We’re asking for your assistance to help us get the word out about DISABLE POVERTY.

Here’s how you can help:

§  Take the DISABLE POVERTY pledge

§  Use the DISABLE POVERTY Toolkit:

o   Place a news item about DISABLE POVERTY on your website, blog or newsletter

o   Share one of these posts to your personal or organization’s social media accounts

o   Get the facts

§  Take action to reduce poverty among Americans with disabilities

Together, through words and actions, we can disable poverty and advance shared prosperity for all Americans.

Thank you for your commitment.

Sincerely,
Kathy Brannigan
