On October 31, 2018 NAQ & ANCOR will host the 2nd of 4 webinars in the series titled "A Lifetime of Support".

Session Title: Skills Are About to Get Real: How skills assessments can be used to develop meaningful, evidence-based program curriculum for adults with ID/DD.

Session Description: In light of current legislation and best practices affecting disability programs and services, organizations are seeking ways to provide more meaningful, productive activities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities that will increase their independence. But how do you measure success? In this webinar, the participant will learn how the right skills assessment tool can lend itself to creating a complete picture of an individual’s strengths and challenges, and how this data can translate to a person-centered curriculum plan with evidence-based outcomes for small groups.

Speaker:  Sandy Weaver is currently the Assessment and Curriculum Coordinator for Annandale Village in Suwanee, GA. A 28-year employee of the community for adults with developmental disabilities and traumatic or acquired brain injuries, she has worked in many capacities including as Arts and Academics Instructor and Activities Coordinator. In her current role, Sandy administers the Assessment of Functional Living Skills™ to determine the support needs of clients, and coordinates with staff and community members to develop meaningful programming with the goals of skills acquisition and increased independence. She received a degree in Education from the University of Georgia, and continues to enjoy opportunities to both learn and train others in her areas of interest: the arts, disabilities awareness, life skills curriculum development, autism, and crisis behavior management.
