Missouri has been implementing the First Responder Disability Awareness Training (FRDAT) - Niagara University is our grantee. The link to their website is: https://frdat.niagara.edu/
I'm not familiar with ANE.
We have approached the FRDAT from a comprehensive angle and have been implementing trainings for law enforcement, fire/EMS and 911 telecommunicators. The Department of Public Safety and the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) did a nationwide search and found no other trainings that are as comprehensive as the FRDAT. Those who have completed the training, indicate that this training is even better that the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training that is also implemented to specifically address people with behavioral health issues who are in crisis.
Specifically, the LE training is Police Officer Standards Training (POST) certified. We have found that LEOs will not take any trainings that are not POST certified. It is a training that is also endorsed by the Department of Public Safety. The MSHP, Kansas City Police Department and another academy through the Metropolitan Community College, have all committed to implementing this training at their academies.
With permission from Niagara University, I have taken portions of the training specific to I/DD to include Down Syndrome, Autism, CP, intellectual disabilities, etc., and have delivered the one hour that CIT sets aside for I/DD out of their 40 hour training. I'm actually scheduled to deliver another CIT training next month. My daughter has participated in several of those trainings where she shares information with the officers about how best to approach some people with Autism.
Things slowed down during COVID-19. While NY was in lock down, they developed on-line curricula for all of the disciplines and the LEO online training is also POST certified. We are continuing to work to ensure sustainability once Niagara University's grant ends.
I hope this information is helpful. I'm glad to answer any questions you may have Liz.
Have a good evening,
Vicky

Subject: DD Councils Question on LEO training resources.
Are there any other councils that have an existing training curriculum for law enforcement staff around IDD and in particular ANE. Any suggestions are appreciated.
thanks,
