Opportunity for SA's to become Sexuality Educators and Lead Classes for People with I/DD with Elevatus Robin Troutman 19 Oct 2020 09:58 EDT
Dear NACDD Friends
Since people with intellectual and developmental disabilities need sexuality education to lead healthy lives, I wanted to share with you a unique and important initiative offered by Elevatus Training: A 3-Year Statewide Training Project for Teams of Self-Advocates and Professionals to Become Sexuality Educators and Lead Classes for People with I/DD which is now available for all Developmental Disabilities Councils.

For those of you who joined us in New Orleans for the 2019 Annual Conference, you may have met Elevatus there. They were part of a group of presentations on the importance of teaching sexual health and sexual identity for people with I/DD.

Elevatus is currently working with the Michigan and New York Developmental Disabilities Councils to implement this program. You can visit their website: https://www.elevatustraining.com/team-training/ or, see the attached proposal for more information.

We believe in the work of Elevatus Training, and their mission to empower, motivate, and educate self advocates, professionals and parents, to gain confidence, comfort, knowledge and skills to teach and talk openly about sexuality which will enable people with developmental disabilities to lead sexually healthy lives.

If you have questions about this program please reach out to Katherine McLaughlin, Founder, CEO, and Lead Trainer for Elevatus Training directly. xxxxxx@elevatustraining.com<mailto:xxxxxx@elevatustraining.com>, or call her 603.399.5777 x 102

Thanks so much
Robin
