The Administration for Community Living (ACL) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) host a monthly webinar series that invites subject matter experts to share insights and best practices to develop high quality home- and community-based services (HCBS) and programs beyond regulatory compliance.

On January 27, 2020, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) declared a public health emergency (PHE) responding to COVID-19. Today States face the expiration of many emergency waivers and flexibilities put in place to address the PHE. States will need to evaluate whether to extend or rescind these expiring emergency measures. They also have the option to adopt some of these flexibilities in their existing HCBS State Plan and Waiver Programs.

HCBS stakeholders have the opportunity to leverage a more responsive infrastructure to reevaluate and potentially redesign HCBS programs, supports, and services to better serve present and future HCBS beneficiaries.

This webinar invites attendees to learn about:

  *   CMS waivers and flexibilities (analysis and discussion);
  *   Replicable strategies and partnerships that leverage existing infrastructure to address PHE issues; and
  *   Policy areas where  collaboration and innovation is needed to ensure the safety and well-being of HCBS beneficiaries during and after the PHE.
