Where Low-Income Jobs Are Being Lost to COVID-19<https://www.urban.org/features/where-low-income-jobs-are-being-lost-covid-19?utm_source=srwnews&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=low-income%20jobs> is a neighborhood-level tracking tool from Urban Institute that will be updated monthly to help local governments and nonprofits target response and recovery efforts as employment conditions change.

The tool lets users easily see where workers are particularly at risk of job loss, and zoom in to find estimates by county, metro area, or census tract. Moreover, Urban Institute has made the data and underlying code public via Github<https://github.com/UrbanInstitute/covid-neighborhood-job-analysis> and other platforms. This makes it easy for public officials, advocates, and experts to work with the findings, tweak assumptions to reflect local knowledge, or build on Urban's work to produce their own real-time tools<https://www.hcdc.datahouston.org/covid19job>.

For instance:

  *   The Ohio Housing Finance Agency is using the estimates to inform an emergency housing needs assessment.
  *   Innovate Memphis is combining the estimates with data on evictions, foreclosures, and other measures to help the City of Memphis and Shelby County target resources for relief and crisis intervention.
  *   Harvard economist Raj Chetty has accessed the data to inform his analysis of the potential impacts of COVID-19 on upward mobility.
