FW: UPDATE: IRS issues new guidance on rebates.

Just now the IRS released more new guidance. (I told you things are moving quickly!) For people who do not get SS Form 1099, and did not file taxes, please direct them to the portal, enter their personal information, and that information will be utilized to send them a stimulus payment: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.irs.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2Fnon-filers-enter-payment-info-here&data=02%7C01%7Cjorwic%40thearc.org%7C0cdd33ee6bde4ea00de608d7dd727366%7C1508d6ca4350484cbe3aea487e334b0e%7C0%7C0%7C637221355956338792&sdata=aXdYtzUnX9gGKfaew5OCsH0B23a8d6VG2AEvO%2BzLEOo%3D&reserved=0>.
We are still waiting for guidance on how a person who does not file taxes can claim the child rebate. I'll let you know as soon as IRS makes it clear.
Please make sure people have the correct information that the overwhelming majority of Social Security recipients will be getting the rebate automatically. Because things are changing so quickly, I'm concerned people are working off of outdated fact sheets. The Arc has an updated fact sheet (attached) that you can share widely.
Advocates are still continuing advocacy with the agencies to help this small sub-population of beneficiaries who did not file and do not get an SS 1099 get this rebate automatically. But rest assured that Congressional intent is that they receive the payment.
I've attached the Arc one pager that is up to date on this issue. Please feel free to share.
