"One Vote Now: How DD Councils identify and close gaps to political inclusion for people with developmental disabilities."
Sunday March 22, 2020 at 4pm ET followed by light reception
Elections should be equally accessible for all Americans. Every person with a disability who is eligible to vote has the right to vote. This panel will show how State Developmental Disabilities Councils are leading the way identifying the best approach for their state to "get out the vote" (GOTV) among voters with disabilities by using the resources found on "One Vote Now" website.
Each and every state and territory faces unique challenges to voter participation. There is no "one size fits all" solution to building state policies that eliminates all of the barriers to voting or encourages every voter with disabilities to exercise their right to vote. Whether your state has issues around accessibility at the polling places, lack of voter education and outreach informing people with DD about their right to vote, voter suppression and misinformation, language challenges, or other, the "One Vote Now" website can point you in the right direction for finding the resources you need to come up with a state specific solution.
Come learn from your DD Council leaders about how you can find free resources and trusted partners to help customize your state strategy to encourage Americans with developmental disabilities to vote.
