Hi all, I know we are planning to talk at our meeting in San Diego about effective messaging and helping policymakers and others understand the unique and vital role councils play in our state. Our council wanted to use that approach with our state’s biennial budget platform, so we focused on: 1. Keeping as many visuals as possible to explain words; 2. Keeping them short; 3. Using issue areas everyone understands (employment, transportation); 4. Limiting our “asks” in each topical area. Below is our biennial budget platform by topic. The feedback from our council members and from the general public and our partners has been very positive. Here are some ideas on how you can help spread the word on these issues and BPDD’s platform:   Share with your local disability network Share on your social media pages Share with your state Senator, state Representative, U.S. Congressperson and U.S. Senators Use these sheets when talking with candidates   BPDD will be using this document with the Governor’s office, state legislators, state agencies, the Congressional delegation, and others to talk about these issues BPDD has identified has priorities for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and their families.
