That’s fabulous news, Beth, on all accounts!  Bravo!  And, I will probably borrow a few things of yours.

Have a great weekend.

Subject: DD Councils WI gets supported decision-making, EF, and innovative employment pilot bills passed!

Hi all,

I know we’ve had a lot of challenges in the past year, but wanted to share GOOD NEWS as the WI legislative session wrapped up: our Council was busy going to Governor bill-signings on THREE great bills we worked on:

  1. Employment First legislation that requires our state agencies to work together and publicly share benchmarks/progress
  2. Supported Decision-Making that actually has a template form included in the legislation to make the process easier for families to document
  3. A Partners with Business (using Medicaid to pay co-workers to provide employment supports instead of voc agencies) innovation pilot that actually provided $150,000 over two years directly to our Council (now the procurement challenges begin!)

Below is a one-pager with links to the legislative language if any of you are interested in borrowing, as well as some of our cool Supported Decision-making resources and a link to an upcoming webinar (we are now doing extensive training statewide):
