Dear NGCDD Members, DD Council Executive Directors, AIDD and NACDD:

It is with great pleasure I announce Kari Horn as the new Executive Director for the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (NGCDD) to become effective April 9, 2018.

The NGCDD Executive Committee held an Open Meeting Interview for the position of Executive Director to the NGCDD yesterday evening.  The Committee voted unanimously to offer Kari Horn the position.  I offered her the position this morning and she accepted.

Ms. Horn has worked as the NGCDD Projects Manager for 4 ½ years and will bring to her new position so much experience. Kari was very instrumental in gathering and compiling information and data for the current NGCDD 5-year state plan.  Nevada was selected to be one in 7 states to participate in a pilot program that formed the new Federal Performance Measures for reporting to AIDD and Kari was a key participant.  The data collection spreadsheets she created for this pilot program were shared with other states to be used as an example. Kari currently manages all NGCDD community grants and has monitored and trained approximately 30 grantees during her time as Projects Manager.  She represents the Council on several committees and is a person respected throughout Nevada for her work on systems change and capacity building for persons with I/DD.  Kari came to the NGCDD office after working for the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities under a grant provided by the NGCDD where she administered the People First Project for 3 years.  Prior to this she was the Program Coordinator for the Lili Claire Foundation/University Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (UCAN) Assessment Team for one ½ years and worked as a Developmental Specialist/Program Specialist at Nevada Early Intervention Services for 5 years.

With Kari’s experience and knowledge, the transition to Executive Director will be seamless.

Please help me in congratulating Kari Horn!
