Hey Tracey,
I’m fairly confident Medicaid Admin can pay for case management, and that support can be whatever the state deems in terms of planning processes.
I know Oklahoma does NOT officially state Michael Smull PCT is to be used – while that’s a goal, we just don’t have the capacity just yet.

Thank you Ann!
I have become somewhat familiar with similar LifeCourse materials and information, but what you shared is more robust and puts things into the big picture. We have had Michael Smull come to our state some years back at the beginning
of a PCP initiative we had. I love his material and those of Helen Sanderson and Associates as well.
Do you know if your Medicaid program pays specifically for person-centered planning or if the state just includes language that an individual support plan must be developed using a PCP process? I am finding a few states that do
a good job of including language about using PCP but they don’t have specific policies about how the process should be conducted and requirements related to training and competency. This is the direction we are headed here.
Thanks again, Tracy

Hi Tracy,
While not OFFICIAL documents (in terms of the planning process), we have been sharing the tools from the supporting families community of practice and from Michael Smull/Support Development Associates. We encourage families to work
through these tools (on their own or with a facilitator – which the Council can support) as a way to be more prepared for the official process.
I don’t know if you are at all familiar with the Supporting Families Community of Practice, but this stuff is fantastic and free. I’m going to attach to this two power points I’ve used recently to share the concepts and tools. I
think you can get a feel from those and there is MUCH more on the websites listed at the end of the presentations. Invite someone from Kansas City to come out and teach you this stuff. It’s magic.
We love the Support Development Associates stuff too, and are using it, but you kinda have to be “certified” to train and use these tools and our capacity there is low. But if you’d like to talk with my staff person who IS certified,
I’m glad to put her in touch with you.

Hello Everyone;
I am working with our State Medicaid and DD Program in developing an implementation plan for Person-Centered Planning services in Idaho. These would be specifically services for the facilitation of the planning process. I would
appreciate any information (and links) about state Medicaid/DD Agency programs, systems, or protocols you feel are following a good, truly person-centered process. I appreciate any information about related training for providers/faciliators as well.
Thank you, Tracy
