Councils expressed in the 2016 needs assessment that they were in need of strategies for engaging diverse Council members to be a part of their Councils.
(Effectively recruiting members that represent the State/Territory demographic/cultural diversity)
i.e. advertising DD Council member openings to publications that reach diverse populations…
In addition, Councils expressed the need for strategies/ideas/resources for engaging diverse communities to participate in DD Council initiatives and activities.
i.e. culturally and linguistically competent language used in RFP announcements that encourage organizations that represent diverse populations to apply and other
strategies…
I have some great resources from GA already from when staff presented on the DICLC webinar series, but happy to receive any others.
If there are other Councils with additional ideas/strategies/content to share, please send it my way.
