Hi Rachel,

I have always used Not Dead Yet as a resource as well as checking out Compassion and Choices, who backed and funded the effort here.  Colorado also has a strong Cross Disability Coalition that had a couple of specialists that headed up the effort and made media contact.  We were able to stop it in the state legislature in a close vote and being at the hearing until 1:00 AM.  An initiative passed in the state the following year and we are in the implementation at this point.  The Council did not take a formal position.  There are great arguments against and the disability community merged efforts with a wide range of folks in the religious communities.

Best,  Marcia

Good Morning

It looks like this year’s assisted suicide bill may be getting some traction so I wanted to reach out to DDCs that have addressed this issue in the legislature.

Did the Council take a formal position?

What did you use for resources/do for education?

What did the self-advocacy organization do?

Thanks so much for your help.
