Hi Ann,

Here’s a list we hand out at emergency preparedness trainings.

These were recently put to use a self-advocate, Stacy, who received the training ended up having to use her app on her phone when she went into a diabetic coma during a community meeting. The other people there were able to persuade the Fire Department personnel to be patient and not touch Stacy. She was able (even though she was in a partial coma) to open the App on her phone where it listed her diagnoses, medical conditions, medications, and the best way to talk with her or treat her in an emergency. Textbook example of how these things can work well. If the firemen had grabbed her and lifted her onto the gurney before she was willing to let them, the outcome would have been terrible and someone would have been hurt.

Best,

Do any of you fine people know of any smart phone apps that allow a person to have a personal emergency plan on their phone?

If so, please send me info!
