Heidi,
The co-employment model is shared management that promotes self-determination.  It allows an individual/family to partner with an agency in hiring,  training and managing the staff they work with.

More information about Massachusetts’ Agency with Choice and other service delivery programs can be found in this brochure:  http://www.mass.gov/eohhs/docs/dmr/waiver/waiver-choosing-service.pdf

In Massachusetts,   there aren’t enough provider agencies participating in the AwC program throughout the state.    One of the issues identified is the fees paid to agencies don’t take into account the time needed to manage the program.  We are interested in finding out how other states structure their programs – or if they choose not to administer a co-employment model.
