The co-employment model is shared management that promotes self-determination. It allows an individual/family to partner with an agency in hiring, training and managing the staff they
work with.
In Massachusetts, there aren’t enough provider agencies participating in the AwC program throughout the state. One of the issues identified is the fees paid to agencies don’t take
into account the time needed to manage the program. We are interested in finding out how other states structure their programs – or if they choose not to administer a co-employment model.
