Agree Becky. And thanks for the response. I don't see how it can be flexible enough to work!

Heidi, Neither Rik or I know of this occurring anywhere.  Like you, we have reservations, especially with regard to what portions of the day use paid supports and which use natural supports.  For most people we know that would vary possibly day to day—we don’t see that many folks who have the same schedule day after day.  It seems like it would be complicated and now allow for flexibility????  Curious.

Subject: DD Councils Calendar for planning services

Our DD agency has proposed implementing a calendar model for planning supports for individuals on ID/DD waiver, i.e., when developing the individual service plan, you are looking at a daily calendar of what the person wants to do in their life, what portion of that is paid supports, what portion of it is natural supports, etc.  They think this is a great idea and we and other advocates are skeptical and think it could be a way to seek to limit services (and of course no one wants anyone to get more services than they need). We were under the impression that it had been implemented in one or more states but no examples have been provided.  Not necessarily opposed but not sure it adds anything to the already cumbersome process. THANKS
