I consulted with one of our grants specialists who informed me that when our grantees hold conferences, they may use grant funds to pay for the speaker’s travel and a reasonable fee charged for speaking. However, we do not pay honorariums.

Separately, we offer stipends to support people to speak on disability-related issues at conferences. The organization holding the conference must submit an application at least 90 days in advance and tell us who they are paying and how much. They also submit a report after the event. We encourage them to use speakers who are self-advocates, but they do not have to. The RFP for this can be found at: http://tcdd.texas.gov/grants-rfps/funding-available-for-grants/disability-related-presentations-rfp/
