Happy weekend, everyone!
We used to have mini-grants but gave that up a few years ago.
On another topic, I wanted to share what we are doing for the ADA25. Some of you may be able to use this info in your own states.
We actually have been highlighting the ADA25 since our large disability conference in January and have been including it at each event we have held since, using different media to convey the message, including at our Legislative Event.
We plan to hold a large event on July 18th in collaboration with the U.S. Business Leadership Network and the DEBLN other disability agencies. We had a planning meeting with USBLN today and it is shaping up nicely. The USBLN has a bus with the by-line "Driving Success Through Disability Inclusion" and America's First Disability Rights Museum on Wheels. If you look on their web site you can read all about it. They get corporate sponsors to support each event that they are holding which helps with the costs. We have invited the Governor, Secretary Landgraf and others to attend.
They talked about being in Atlanta in June and then Charlotte. They will be in DE in July and then in Washington on July 26th. They may be in Chicago in between. They will be traveling the country through October. Check it out. http://www.usbln.org
In addition to the event we are holding in Dover on July 18th, you are all invited, our DelDOT is sponsoring wrapping 3 of their large buses with the ADA25 logo and they are also putting this on 30 of their bus stops (a big deal for DE!).
And, on July 26th, the Legacy Bus will be at Rodney Square in Wilmington, DE on its way from Philadelphia to Baltimore and Washington. Some of us will be having dinner with those notables on the bus on the 25th. Can't wait for that.
In June, we are going to provide Frisbees and bracelets with the ADA25 logo on them at the Firefly outdoor concert in Dover (expected 90,000 people) and at the Big Barrel Concert also in Dover. We are daydreaming that a Frisbee will get to Paul McCartney to throw out into the crowd. Who knows?
It's going to be a busy summer. I hope you enjoy yours! BTW..thank you to those who've served!
Pat
Dear Fellow Executive Directors:
Do any of your Councils do mini-grants? If so, could you send me the application you use so I can see if I can replicate and not reinvent the wheel?
Thanks and have a great Memorial Day Weekend.
