Our conference page just went up:
http://www.wi-bpdd.org/sdc/index.cfm
You’ll find session info from previous years.
I would echo Tracy: Every year we have some sessions that are focused on community life: Last year we have “what’s in your community”- Things to get involved in that either are in your community of how to start
something: A book club, Service clubs, yoga, cooking cases, acting classes, timebanks etc. the ideas was to try 2 new things. There were shorted sessions (45 min) so people could participate in two session.
This year—one of our keynotes is Jonathan Martinis -- I’m so excited!

Thank you! I think they will like those ideas and reflects what they have been wondering about—a mix of disability relation educational sessions and life enrichment sessions.

Becky,
I am sure Christine will be sending you information about our statewide self-advocacy conferences in recent years, but I wanted to mention that besides all the great informational sessions on
self-advocacy, employment, budgeting, etc. some of the most popular sessions were on: dating and relationships, how to paint a picture, chair yoga and exercise, music appreciation, iPad/Tablet/Phone apps that are helpful, and other special interest topics.

We’re planning our 2nd conference for Iowans with developmental disabilities. Those on the planning team would like to see the list of topics or programs
from other state’s conferences to get some ideas. They received some suggestions/ideas submitted by participants after last year’s conference but would like to know what works well in other states. So, I’m asking those of you who do state conferences if
you would send me what you can so I can share it with them. You can also send links to the websites if you wish as we are working on using the internet to get information from others Thank you b
