Two hour reminder! This week’s topic is “Language around Advocacy.” Language is a constantly shifting thing, and the language people use
and want to be used can shift as well. To start off the discussion around this topic our speaker for this Series will be Kevin Nuñez from New Jersey.
Since 2016, Kevin Nuñez has been on a journey of self-discovery. He served as vice chair of the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities. From 2017-2024. He recently expanded his advocacy
portfolio to include SABE, or Self Advocates Becoming Empowered, a regional and national self-advocacy organization. His first book,
Confessions from Disability Limbo, was published in 2021. His
creation, The Advocacy Life Podcast and Blog, a disability awareness podcast and blog, was relaunched in 2022. He has sought to respond
to our profoundly changing world and learned from others how to be the best self-advocate he can be. He also still has the ever-present desire to build coalitions with others to make his corner of the world better for people with disabilities. The mission
never ends.
