Mary Lee – We no longer do this, as we weren’t getting outcomes.  We provide support for in-state conferences and provide sponsorships for individuals with intellectual disabilities and family members.  There is a reporting mechanism built into that from the grantee who gets the money.  Otherwise, we support conference attendance as part of some our larger grants, but again there is a grantee requirement for reporting.  We require follow-up form attendees 3-6 months post conference to say how what they learned at the conference helped them to change something in their life or how they helped someone else with the knowledge they obtained.  We have gotten some great outcomes from this approach.  Valarie

Subject: DD Councils Leadership Development Outcomes

Greetings from Kentucky!  We are interested in improving the outcomes of our Leadership Development Fund, which provides reimbursement grants for individuals (and family members) who attend conferences or trainings on related issues.  If your council offers something similar, we’d appreciate your feedback.

1)  What are the requirements? (If you want to send an application or link, GREAT!)

2)  How do you measure outcomes? (Again, any tools appreciated.)

3)  What, if any, follow-up is required?  Who is responsible?

Thanks very much,
