Hi Ed,
Our Idaho Employment First Consortium (coordinated by the DD Council)
has been working on recommendations to add employment-related services to our Medicaid waiver/state plan because right now we only fund a small amount of job coaching under Medicaid in Idaho.
Our group will be planning very carefully on how to add services like pre-vocational, career exploration, etc. and follow the HCBS rules for integrated settings.
If you didn’t have a chance to take part in the LEAD Center’s seminar last week on “Redefining Home & Community Based Services: CMS Guidance on Non-Residential Services and its Implications for Employment”
I encourage you to listen to the archive – it was EXCELLENT!
The link to the archive is: https://www.leadcenter.org/webinars/redefining-home-community-based-services-cms-guidance-non-residential-services-and-its-implications-employment
I also hope to use the Alaska “Employment Support Services Options:
A Guide for Proper Definition and Sequencing of DVR and SDS Employment Services…” as a reference with respect to time-limited terms for pre-vocational services, as well as other great stuff.
I don’t mean to put him on the spot, but Rich Sanders at the Alaska DD Council shared this resource with me after we met at the National Employment First meeting last December.

Subject: DD Councils Sheltered Workshops
Hi,
Responding to the CMS Home and Community Based Services Rule on integrated settings, how does your state propose to deal with sheltered workshops or pre-vocational services in your state’s transition plan?
Thanks,
Ed
