The next NACDD Self Advocate Discussion series will be this week,
Thursday May 23rd, 4pm-5pm Eastern Time, which is 3pm-4pm Central Time, which is 2pm-3pm Mountain Time, which is 1pm-2pm Pacific Time, which is Noon-1pm Alaska Time, which is 11am-Noon Hawaii Time.
LGBTQ Pride Month is next month so the topic will be LGBTQ and Disability intersectionality. Our guest speaker will be David Frye, a familiar face to anyone who’s been to a NACDD Discussion Series because David is a constant member.
David is a member of the SARTAC Advisory Board, and says “I received the Vermont Pride Award for Individual Activism on May 4th, 2013. From creating the support group and setting up a chat line to endless hours of outreach, I am in the
process of connecting LGBTQA individuals with disabilities across Vermont. This innovative and tireless work has earned me several accolades including an invitation to speak at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s activist conference, Creating Change.
I speak up for LGBTQA people with disabilities that can’t speak up for themselves. I stand up for equal rights for people with disabilities that are LGBTQA. I continue to see this needed work not just in Vermont, but around the world. My dedication is bringing
much needed attention to this marginalized group of people.”
