Hello folks! New year means a new Self Advocacy Committee meeting will take place. This meeting is scheduled for
Tuesday February 6th, 3pm-5pm Eastern time.
This committee is a great opportunity to gain experience with the committee process, learn about other self advocacy initiatives across the United States (and territories), and make connections with other DD Council members. If you, or
a DD Council member you know are interested, please consider joining us even if only to listen in. If you are interested in building your leadership skills, or helping other self advocates build their own skills, definitely join this meeting as our primary
topic will be developing a SAC-lead webinar on leadership development!
Tentative Agenda:
Intro, 5 minutes
Updates regarding Self Advocacy Work (For returning and new folks) 20 minutes
Building the Leadership Development Webinar (By self advocates, to help self advocates), 60 minutes,
Rescheduling future SAC meeting(s), 15 minutes
New Business, 15 minutes
As a reminder, The SAC is open to Executive Directors, Council staff and other advocates with an interest in self-advocacy/advocacy as it relates to State/Territory Developmental Disabilities Councils. The SAC supports Councils in their
work around self-advocacy by identifying best practices (what is working/not working in the SA movement from DD Council perspective), sharing information and making recommendations for supporting self-advocacy across all State/Territory Developmental Disabilities
Councils. Technically, the committee is open to anyone to listen in on, but you must be a member of a DD council to vote anytime a vote is called.
