Indiana pays $35 based on hardship . Mileage and other modes of transportation ( commercial services ), parking,  attendant care, lodging , interpreter services,  meals are separate expenses and are either direct billed to the office , as we make the travel arrangements ( a state policy)  or reimbursed based on the state travel rules. (mileage and meals that are not provided as part of the meeting and when members live at least 50 miles and based on  time meeting starts and ends  – a somewhat complicated formula.

In Texas, our state enabling legislation allows reimbursement for actual expenses, including personal assistants, respite, etc, but we cannot pay for lost wages or a "per diem" for attending.

Dear Executive Directors:

Does anyone have what amount for the stipends they provide to Council members who attend meetings and are not employed or have to forfeit their wages to attend Council meetings or perform other Council meetings.

Thank you,
