New Mexico follows the State’s Mileage & Per Diem act. This allows Boards and Commissions (including Councils) members payment of $95 per meeting day. The Council Member has the option of choosing $85 per diem in lieu of the payment. The difference is the payment for meeting day is taxed and the per diem is not. In both cases, the NMDDPC reimburses for mileage at 80% of the IRS rate – as per the Mileage & Per Diem Act.

Does anyone have what amount for the stipends they provide to Council members who attend meetings and are not employed or have to forfeit their wages to attend Council meetings or perform other Council meetings.
