Christopher,

I am pleased to learn of North Carolina’s efforts to promote employment policy and improved transition support for persons with disabilities.

Arizona is in the process of establishing an Employment First Initiative and recently concluded a series of community forums. I am attaching a draft copy of our Arizona Employment Community Forum Findings and two other initiatives to promote an inclusive workforce and to encourage individuals to make the transition from dependence on public benefits to financial self-sufficiency.

Please contact me if you have questions or if I can share additional information.

Best wishes,

Michael Leyva

Subject: DD Councils Employment Policy and Improved Transition

Dear Council Executive Directors:

The North Carolina Council on DD has been working in our state to promote employment policy and improved transition support for persons with disabilities.  We are currently reviewing other state legislation, executive orders, and other policies through our Employment First Steering Committee and SELN (State Employment Leadership Network) resources.

I would like to ask if any of your Councils have Position Papers, Statement of Principles, or other Council endorsed documents on Employment and Transition that you would be willing to share with our Council?  We want to share this with our other state agency partners and hope to set a vision and outcome in our state in the near future.

Thank you in advance for sharing your resources with us.

Best wishes,

Chris
