Wednesday Wednesday Wednesday, which means it’s time for our usual weekly roundup. Fewer items than some weeks, but what is here is important.
Important guidance from Rehabilitation Services Administration!
There are stories that some VR agencies are still asking for financial needs testing for people with disabilities who apply for their services. In response, VRA issued:
Technical
Assistance Circular, RSA-TAC-22-03, Prohibition Against Applying Financial Needs Tests or Requiring Cost Participation as a Condition for the Receipt of Vocational Rehabilitation Services for SSI and SSDI Recipients. This Technical Assistance Circular
reminds State Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies of the prohibition at 34 C.F.R. ยง 361.54(b)(3)(ii) against applying a financial needs test or requiring financial participation as a condition for providing VR services to an individual who has been determined
eligible for Social Security benefits under titles II or XVI of the Social Security Act (i.e., recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)).
Please consider touching base with your state's VR to make sure they are aware if you are comfortable.
Thanks!

Lastly, the 2012 Wingspread Report is attached. Compare the issues identified a decade ago to the ones DD Councils deal with today and wait patiently for the 2022 report to come out after the upcoming conference.
That’s it for this week. See you all next week!
