Another Wednesday meeting has come and gone, so here comes our weekly roundup.

Attached are Erin’s wonderful PowerPoint policy slides if you need a reminder of what’s happening in the halls of power.

High Priority – Timely

Dear DD Council Executive Directors,

CDC funding to Expand COVID-19 Vaccine Access for People with Disabilities will end on September 30, 2022. AoD is currently assessing the expenditure of funds for this grant. Please help us by completing the survey and return by cob on Friday, April 22nd.  Thank you for your help with this request.

The link to the survey is below:

*use google chrome to access survey (paste in google chrome).

ALSO TIMELY

Please also see the Dear Colleague letter attached “Rep. Langevin’s Dear Colleague letter for FY23 DD Act Programs”

Formatting keeps me from pasting it straight in, but it is important. Tell your local legislators! Further instructions contained in the attached item.

FEMA is putting out $405 Million to emergency managers, this is a great opportunity for DD Councils to touch base with state emergency managers and educate them on the need for additional services/gap filling for the disability community during disasters. See attached item that starts with “FEMA” for more information.

As for our usual smorgasbord of items of interest:

The NACDD Sexuality and Healthy Relationships for Self-Advocates Taught by Self-Advocate Sexuality Educators and National Experts series has two sections left. Check out the attached flyers! “NACDD 4 Part Flyer”

You don’t need to be told the pandemic has been brutal on the DSP workforce and DD councils, but NADSP is hosting a webinar to look at and discuss some of the data about the impact of the pandemic. - 5/5/22 • 2:00pm - 3:00pm ET

Webinar: Understanding the NCI-IDD 2020 Staff Stability Report and COVID-Supplement (mailchi.mp)

And I’ll leave you with a reminder that we’re still looking for Self Advocates who deserve to be recognized as a Champion of Equal Opportunity. We invite you to nominate an individual with a developmental disability, residing in your state, who personifies the ideals of self-determination, inclusion, and integration through legislative advocacy, public awareness/engagement, organizational leadership, or some combination thereof. See the attached “2022 CEO Award Nomination packet” for more info.

As always, any questions, comments, cares, concerns about the items in this roundup email, or the structure of the email itself, please email me at the info listed below. You can expect another one of these after our next Wednesday meeting.
