Subject: [Leadership Conference2] PLEASE JOIN US - MLK Day of Action/Pledge to Act

Colleagues and Allies,

Please join us in honoring the #MLKLegacy by demanding that the Senate pass voting rights legislation now to protect and strengthen the sacred right to vote that Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders fought for by pledging and committing to organize, amplify and act! In partnership with over 80 organizations, including many of you, The Leadership Conference is calling on the strength of all membership organizations to join in the fight for voting rights - without the right to vote secured, all the issues that we fight for are in danger.

HERE ARE THE ACTIONS:

  • January 15, 2022 - To launch our efforts to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King, we will march in Arizona with colleagues, friends, and allies urging Senator Sinema to choose our voting rights over the filibuster.

  • January 16, 2022 - We will be in Georgia to remind our elected leaders that Black and Brown voters turned out in record numbers during a global pandemic for democracy, now it’s time for them to deliver on voting rights.

  • January 17, 2022 - On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we will take action and join together by walking across a bridge in Washington, DC with partners and allies, to urge our elected leaders to make good on the promises to pass voting rights legislation.

The actions will call on President Biden and the Senate to urgently pass federal voting rights legislation, including the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act and the and we need YOU to pledge and commit to helping us organize, amplify, and move these essential pieces of voting rights legislation to passage.

The Leadership Conference can hold a special role in these actions and continue to fight for our legacy issue and so we are asking all members of the coalition to please pledge to act. Please complete the MLK Day of Action - I pledge to Act Sign up form AND share it out to your list, to urge President Biden and the Senate to take ACTION on voting rights legislation now.  Signing up on this form will also let us communicate ongoing actions with you to ensure that you have all the information you need for success.

If you’re not able to be in-person or take physical or in-person actions, there are other options to engage.  Please use the MLK Day of Action Launch toolkit to educate and bring awareness that it’s time for the White House and Senate to #DeliverForVotingRights.

For more information, please visit www.deliverforvotingrights.comThank you for your work and ongoing commitment to saving our democracy by prioritizing voting rights!
