Subject: DD Councils People with disabilities prioritized in Nevada for COVID vaccine.

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a recent victory. I’ve been working intensely with Governor’s office and our Dept of Health and Human Services vaccination team (as I know so many are) and I’m proud to say for the first time, people with disabilities were specifically mentioned in the Governor’s live press conference last night. Additionally, with the Council spearheading efforts, we collaborated with several other DD agencies to submit a letter of recommendations for consideration in vaccination rollouts. As a result, Nevada’s vaccine distribution structure has been updated to include prioritization for individuals with disabilities and the recommendations we submitted are included in our updated Nevada COVID-19 Vaccination Playbook. Pgs 26, 34-36 and 38 in the playbook addresses individuals with disabilities. The Council is also specifically named in group efforts as well as the statement,  “The NGCDD can offer valuable resources and information to vaccinating providers who serve or want to serve Nevadans in the disability community “.
