Good morning NACDD network! As always, we will have our 4pm ET Zoom All-Call on Wednesday. I have invited the newly named director of the Office on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) to join us at the beginning of the call. David Jones will join us to share a little bit about his past work with our federal government and what he hopes to achieve working with OIDD. I hope that you all will be able to join us for this first welcome of our new OIDD director. It is our understanding that once David gets settled in to the new position, Allison Cruz will resume her former duties with ACL/AoD.

Happy ADA Anniversary Week everyone! I am thrilled to see how many Councils are hosting online events and sharing resources as well as memories on your webpages. For me it is always a special time as I worked on the ADA as a young staffer for the lead people who were coordinating all of the Hill and grassroots efforts. I worked to coordinate grassroots actions both on the Hill and across the country which led to the swift passage of the ADA showing that when advocates of all stripes come together with a unified message we can win! I also helped put together the signing ceremony events at the White House. Quite a heady experience for a twenty-something fresh out of college. Sitting on the White House lawn that day was a proud moment and one that always reminds me that when you work hard enough, and people come together, we can indeed change the world. In the words of the late great ADA leader Justin Dart, Lead On!

Best,

Donna
