Also, do any of you do work in sexual harassment and assault in schools - either K-12 or higher education? I'm doing a lot of work with Title IX at the national level and I'd love some state stories of your work. Click here to see the fact sheet I did with NWLC that I hope you find helpful.

I'm currently working to advise groups on how the new Title IX rules (that we become final in the fall) make schools less safe for students with disabilities. For example, schools will not be responsible for Title IX violations if the student fails to report the sexual harassment or assault to the correct authority (in most K-12 cases limited to teacher or Title IX coordinator). For students with disabilities this leaves out a large number of support staff currently covered by Title IX reporting - including aides who assist with communications issues, counselors, etc., that students with disabilities are more likely to report.

Please let me know if any of you are working with school districts or through your programs to address sexual harassment and assault in schools. Thanks!

The Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities will soon release an RFP to study and identify ways to reduce Abuse Neglect and Exploitation among people with IDD in Kansas.  We are looking for organizations that we can share the RFP with that might be potential bidders.  Do any of you have suggestions of who we can send this too?
