While Maine has not utilized sheltered workshops nor supported subminimum wage through employment services for over a decade, until quite recently there have been people with I/DD employed in subminimum wage work.
So, after 20 years of advocacy, we are very happy to share this news clip of the legislative committee voting unanimously to eliminate subminimum wage certificates!
