DD Council Network,

Please see the information below and attached for the AUCD Leadership Academy.

You are invited to consider leaders and emerging leaders in your networks who might be a good fit for the 2020 AUCD Leadership Academy, a year-long program designed to enhance the skills of current and emerging leaders from the disability network to build coalitions to improve systems of supports and services. See the attached flyer for additional information.

The deadline for applications for the 2020 AUCD Leadership Academy is Friday, March 2nd 2020. If you are considering encouraging someone in your center to apply but are not sure yet, you might consider viewing the archive of the informational webinar that was held last week. The webinar included an overview of the goals of the academy and the application process. It also featured Academy alumni sharing how they continue to benefit from the academy and the connections that were made both during and after the week in Atlanta.

What makes the academy curriculum unique is the commitment to training a cross-generational, cross-functional cadre of leaders and emerging leaders with and without disabilities. The academy offers participants an opportunity to consider their location within the disability and civil rights movements, experience approaches for considering their strengths and inspiring the use of the strengths in others and gain insight into tools and skills that will support working within and across systems to support inclusion of people with disabilities.

AUCD offers this leadership training opportunity in partnership with the Center for Leadership in Disability at Georgia State University. The upcoming year is the fourth year of the academy. Past participants have described the experience this way:
