I’ve attached a report and appendix from our Reno People First chapter compiled several years ago.
With Council support they formed a subcommittee called the scream room subcommittee to investigate the alleged use of seclusion and restraint rooms in the Washoe County school district after several of the
members talked about their concerns and personal experiences. Their report is a comprehensive 10 page review of their findings including their recommendations for the school board. Members testified about their report in front of the Washoe County School
Board which resulted in the board creating a committee to investigate the use of seclusion and restraint rooms and report their findings back to the board.
We now have updated state statutes but they are far from where we need to be.

Subject: DD Councils Restraint and Seclusion Rooms
Hi All
Do any of you have any investments related to use of physical restraint or seclusion rooms as behavior interventions in schools? Have any of you engaged in any activity that had a role in abolishing the use of these practices in your states?
Or at local levels? Please send them my way.
Happy Wednesday,
Kim
