Please see attached legislative priority and bill that was not passed last year.
Many school districts have voluntarily adopted best practices around this issue after 10 years of advocacy.
We have good reporting requirements, but there are still more guidelines that we want in statute.
Many seclusion rooms closed on Florida because they were not in FIRE CODE. Check that out!
Also, I am a big fan of the attached How Safe is the Schoolhouse report.
Kindest Regards,

Subject: DD Councils RE: Restraint and Seclusion Rooms
Good morning all:
In Michigan’s 2015-2016 legislative session, there was a package of bills moved through and signed into law that focused on prohibiting the use of restraint and
seclusion in public schools. The links below will take you to Michigan’s legislative page that will have each rendition of the bill as well as the public act number. Please feel free to call MDDC if you have any questions on these bills.
Sincerely,

Subject: DD Councils Restraint and Seclusion Rooms
Hi All
Do any of you have any investments related to use of physical restraint or seclusion rooms as behavior interventions in schools? Have any of you engaged in any activity that had a role in abolishing the use of these practices in your states?
Or at local levels? Please send them my way.
Happy Wednesday,
Kim
