Sandee, this is amazing! Many thanks for sharing. TN has a new administration and the outgoing Governor wanted to leave SAME efforts on the table for the new Governor to carry forward. Your video is perfect for me to share with the Governor’s staff.

Congratulations on this accomplishment!

Happy Monday everyone,

Our Council advocated for the Governor to create an Employment First Work Group to develop recommendations to make employment for people with disabilities a reality in Louisiana.  Our state has long had an Employment First position or policy statement but it wasn’t really being implemented with fidelity.

One of the recommendations by the work group was for a State As a Model Employer (SAME) Task Force to be created to increase the hiring of people with disabilities in state government.  The Governor’s Office produced a promotional video with the Governor and our Council Chairperson, April Dunn, talking about the work of this task force and the importance of diversifying the workforce.  We are so excited about it!  It’s just over a minute; I hope you will watch here.

Have a great week!

Sandee
