The South Carolina DD Council is pleased to share photos and information about our screening last week of Dan Habib’s wonderful new film “Intelligent Lives”. We co-sponsored the event with the Center for Disability Resources (UCEDD). We
were also film sponsors. Two events were held during Dan’s visit. A screening of two transition films and a panel discussion was held at a local high school with middle school and high school students and teachers and family members. The panel included a
CarolinaLIFE student (University of South Carolina post-secondary program for students with disabilities), a State Department of Education representative and the youth self-advocacy statewide program leader. Our evening session was a full screening of “Intelligent
Lives” and a panel that included a DD Agency rep in the Autism Division, a psychologist for the State Department of Education and the same CarolinaLIFE student from the afternoon session. I would highly recommend this film to Councils and our DD Networks
as a wonderful example of possibilities of inclusive community life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Val
