Dear DD Council network
The “Nothing
About Us Without Us” Best Practices for Supporting Statewide Self-Advocacy Organizations resource document was developed by NACDD’s Self-Advocacy Committee and numerous self-advocate
leaders from advocacy organizations around the country. The document includes an executive summary of the self-advocacy (SA) survey conducted in FY14 and a tool which outlines Best Practices for Supporting Statewide Self-Advocacy Organizations.
The resource was disseminated both inside and outside of the DD Network in 2015. Accessible Word and PDF versions were created to allow DD Councils and SA organizations the opportunity
to customize the content to suit their individual state/territory needs. NACDD asked the DD Network and others to widely distribute the resource to advocates, self-advocacy organizations and other appropriate list serves. In addition, the resource was placed
on NACDD website on the Advocacy – Self-Advocacy – Leadership page.
The purpose of the survey is to determine whether or not the resource was useful for DD Councils and self-advocacy organizations and to gauge the current status of the self-advocacy movements
within each state and territory.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey linked below by
August 17th.
