Good morning,

We're teaming up with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to provide financial empowerment opportunities for people with disabilities. Today, we're announcing an opportunity to participate in the Financial Empowerment: Focus on People with Disabilities 2017 Cohort. We are looking for approximately 30 organizations from across the country that serve people with disabilities and are interested in using the Your Money, Your Goals toolkit to help build the financial capability of the people they serve. Selected organizations will receive training, guides, toolkits, and other resources.

Learn more about the opportunity and selection criteria here:

If you think your organization would be a good fit, send us a Letter of Interest at xxxxxx@consumerfinance.gov by February 14, 2017 with the subject line Focus on People with Disabilities.

There are 57 million Americans with a disability. People with disabilities disproportionately live in poverty, and 80 percent have no emergency fund to turn to in a time of crisis. The FDIC’s 2013 National Survey of Unbanked and Underbanked Households indicates that nearly half (46%) of households headed by working-age individuals with disabilities rely on providers outside the financial mainstream for some or all of their financial services. People with disabilities, like all consumers, have the right to fair treatment in the financial marketplace and access to tools that can help them improve their financial lives.

Thank you,

Olivia Calderon
