o   Resources from ITACC Webinar: ‘Nailing it!  Tips for Writing your PPR Annual Progress Report Narrative’

Presentation script and tools are now available!  This webinar featured DD Council staff with expertise in crafting Annual Program Performance Report (PPR) narratives.  The panelists provided information to help DD Council staff involved in developing the PPR with preparation, organization, and application of tools.  The goal of the webinar was to help DD Council staff improve the quality of written progress reports.

On September 30, 2014 from 2:00 pm – 3:15 pm ET, this webinar features basic writing recommendations to ensure clear communication of DD Council progress and outcomes.  Reporting timeline recommendations will be offered and strategies to plan your work will be presented.

NACDD’s Strategic Communications Committee will be releasing resources for DD Councils to utilize during National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October.  These resources will be released on September 22, 2014 on the NACDD website.  If you have any resources to share, please send them to committee chairperson Josh Ryf at xxxxxx@tcdd.texas.gov.

        AUCD Employment Opportunities at the AUCD National Office

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is currently seeking individuals to serve in three different positions: Program Director, AUCD Senior Program Specialist and AUCD Program Specialist.  AUCD is a national nonprofit organization that promotes and supports a national network of interdisciplinary centers on disabilities. The members of AUCD represent every US state and territory and include 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), 43 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Programs and 15 Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers (IDDRC).

 

        U.S. Senate HELP Committee Disability Policy Office Seeking Fall Interns

The Disability Policy Office of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee is currently seeking unpaid interns for the fall of 2014. The position offers undergraduate or graduate students the opportunity to gain substantive experience while participating in the legislative process. If you're interested in a position, please email a cover letter, resume, writing sample, availability, and two letters of recommendation to xxxxxx@help.senate.gov. Applicants are accepted on a rolling basis.

        Save the Date for the Next DRC Research Meeting

Join the National Bureau of Economic Research as it hosts disability policy and program experts for a two-day conference highlighting findings from new research sponsored by SSA through the DRC. The conference will take place on October 30-31, 2014 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Admission is free, but space is limited, and pre-registration is required. More information and online registration is coming shortly on the NBER's Disability Research Center website.

 

        NSCLC Webinar: “Community-Based Settings and the New Medicaid HCBS Standards: Views from the States, 6 Months In"

On March 15, 2014, the new federal home and community-based services (HCBS) rule went into effect, and the countdown clock for states to craft a transition plan began running. At this six month marker, while many questions remain, early lessons are beginning to emerge. To learn more about the process, this webinar will feature insight from consumer advocates in three states crafting a transition plan under the HCBS rule. The webinar will be held on September 9, 2014 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EDT by the National Senior Citizens Law Center (NSCLC).

Order FREE disability employment guides for employers, job-seekers, educators, and employment service providers.  Employers can find information to help recruit, hire, and retain employees with disabilities. Job-seekers with disabilities can find information to develop their skills and find the support they need to get a job.  (Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.)

 

        CQL Data Brief: Trends in Outcomes Achieved for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) presents trend analysis data across the 21 Personal Outcome Measures® indicators over the past 20 years (1993-2013).  This Data Brief was developed to see what insights could be drawn from CQL’s national database of roughly 8,700 Personal Outcome Measures®.  As is presented in the report, the data indicates that significant positive change has occurred for individuals accessing services.
