Hi all,

I'm sorry I had to miss the call today. I wanted to share recent success getting Senate Bill 1606 passed unanimously through the Oregon House and Senate. This law will ensure, in part, that people with disabilities (broad definition) have access to support people (paid or unpaid) to provide disability-related support when in the hospital, even when hospital visitor policies are limited. This includes but is not limited to physical, behavioral, memory, communication, and decision-making, support. We will be working with the DD Network partners to develop public awareness materials about the new law and would be happy to share them when final.

Thanks, I hope you are all well!

Hi all,

Sharing the product I talked about during today’s call. The CA DD Council developed a health profile with the CA Governor’s Office. You’ve seen versions of these before. Here’s what’s great about this one: fillable, it’s based on the individual, it’s strengths-based, and it includes the involvement of a DD Council and a Governor. It can be used to communicate with health care professionals as well as law enforcement. We’ve worked to make it accessible with IT, and the Governor’s Office is translating it into multiple language.

Please feel free to share this broadly.
