TCDD Seeks Communications Coordinator

The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) is hiring a Communications Coordinator to oversee the development and implementation of TCDD’s public information and marketing efforts. This position will be located at the TCDD office in Austin, Texas.

Overview
The Communications Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of a variety of public information, marketing, and public relations activities related to TCDD’s mission, strategy, and initiatives. The Communications Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the general public and other stakeholders are aware of TCDD’s mission and efforts to create an inclusive community for individuals with disabilities. The coordinator is selected by and accountable to the TCDD Communications Director.  

Job Functions and Qualifications
Essential job functions for this position include the following:

  • Raising awareness: Oversees, coordinates, and participates in developing, writing, and producing content and marketing materials that promote awareness of disability-related issues and TCDD.
  • TCDD projects: Promotes awareness and understanding of TCDD-funded projects and grantee products through content development and effective marketing activities for target audiences and partners.
  • Informational campaigns: Plans and executes statewide informational programs, awareness campaigns, and specific engagement activities and events for various audiences.
  • Technical assistance: Provides guidance, training, and coordination of strategic messaging by TCDD and offers specific technical assistance to Council members and grantees.
  • Audience engagement: Oversees, develops, and maintains effective communications with various audiences to promote disability-related issues and share outcomes from TCDD activities.

Qualified applicants will have: 

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in in communications, marketing, advertising, journalism, or public relations.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in public relations, journalism, public information, communications, media relations, or marketing work.
  • Substitutions: An advanced degree can be substituted for two years of experience.

Salary and Benefits
The salary range is $5,000.00 – $5,301.33 monthly and is part of the Total Compensation Package for State of Texas Employees. Learn more about the compensation package on the State Auditor’s Office website.
